Do Something

“Americans cannot escape a certain responsibility for what is done in our name around the world. In a democracy, even one as corrupted as ours, ultimate authority rests with the people. We empower the government with our votes, finance it with our taxes, bolster it with our silent acquiescence. If we are passive in the face of America’s official actions overseas, we in effect endorse them.”
-Mark Hertzgaard
“The tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy.”
-Charles de Secondat
.
“Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy of human beings.”
-Helen Keller
So, do you want to actually do something?
One of the best ways to spread info is to make copies of DVDs (Loose Change Final Cut or some other great video) and give them away to friends, family, or random people on the street. I’ll explain that in my next post.
Another great way is to make (or buy) posters that help get the truth out to the people.
Here’s the supplies needed to make smaller ones to stick to something outside:
a. Book Bag
b. Adhesive -- you can find these in the paint section of any K-Mart. I recommend the spray adhesive, but we’ve also used poster glue and a staple gun.
c. You are going to want a manila envelope to give you easy access to your posters and keep them in good shape.
d. Bike -- Cars draw attention. This is not a must, but you’ll find it a lot easier if you just park your car and use a bike to get around. It’s faster than walking and more inconspicuous.
e. Dark clothes -- More of that inconspicuousness.
f. Partner -- Extra set of eyes and an extra set of ideas. Plus, the other person can quickly get into the book bag w/out you taking it off.
Tips for posters: Print in black & white. It’s faster, cheaper, and you’re hanging this stuff up outside anyway. Also, make sure your printer program is set on black and white, even if the picture is already black and white. Your printer will try to make the black out of reds and such from your color cartridge. Spray or cover the front of your posters with glue after you put them up. This will help waterproof them.
